The collective is a devised theatre piece that uses mixed media and spoken word poetry to tell the origin stories of its creators.  Through a shared timeline, the narrative unfolds, following the chronology of each of its members. Beginning with a “BANG!” An array of projections, lights, sounds and movers weave through The Collective’s timeline starting from childhood, forward unto adulthood, and ultimately, back from where we came.  The mixed media we choose is just as diverse as the stories we tell. In a group composed of people from vastly dissimilar socioeconomic status, location, race, gender, class, and ethnicity, The Collective celebrates our individuality, rooting each story in authenticity, while unifying us through our natural impulses toward beauty and art.
